Like many of us over the years, I’ve read some fantastic books that have really made a difference, listened to some entertaining and thought-provoking podcasts, and subscribed to a few great newsletters and discovered some great apps. I’m sharing some of my favourites here in the hope you’ll find them just as valuable and inspiring.

If you’re interested in finding out how artificial intelligence began, watch this film. It follows two men and how they got started in an industry that could bring about an even bigger shift than the Industrial Revolution.
One of the standout moments in the documentary is when one of the founders, who had become a master chess player at the age of eight, decided he was wasting his intellectual talents on chess. He realised his time would be better spent trying to cure diseases and help humanity, and that is exactly what he is doing.

Tim Ferriss is a pretty interesting guy. He first came to fame through a bestselling book called The Four Hour Workweek. My recommendation is to join his newsletter because, more often than not, I get something of real value from it.
For example, in his latest newsletter, as of writing this on 3 January 2026, I learnt a really good question to ask yourself when you want to achieve something: What pain are you willing to sustain to achieve this thing? He also hosts some really good podcast interviews. The best way to describe him now is that he’s a thought leader and provoker.

Never miss an idea again

Main Takeaways
I’ve been looking for an app that I can use to easily record ideas as soon as they come into my head. Because, like most people, you get a good idea and it comes and goes before you can record it. And because ideas can come at any time, I wanted to be able to capture them on any device I had handy, including the Apple Watch. With this app, I was able to do all that.
And it comes with AI enhancements, so it will even edit what you’ve recorded for clarity, without losing any key elements of your idea. I like using it on the Apple Watch the most. I can use it with gestures, so just double tapping my index finger and thumb together brings the app up on my watch, and using the same gesture again starts the recording. Using the same gesture again stops the recording.
It’s available on Android and Apple devices, and on Apple it has a Watch, iPhone, iPad, and Mac app, where you can look at all the transcriptions of your recordings. If you never want to miss an idea again, this is the app to get, and it’s free to start with.

One of the strongest ideas in this book is to plan your year around a series of intentional campaigns — focused bursts of activity that create momentum. Look across your calendar and identify the moments where it makes sense to launch a campaign: product releases, seasonal peaks, big announcements or periods when your audience is most receptive.
That’s just one of the key takeaways but there are many more in this book. Reading this book will definitely not be a waste of your time.

Main Takeaways
When I read this book 12 years ago, I recognised the importance of the pre-sale process people go through before buying products and services. Many businesses still don’t understand this concept and don’t provide content to guide potential buyers.
If you click the view media link, you’ll be able to download a PDF version of this book for free. It is still super relevant today, so it is still a recommended read.
The book Winning the Zero Moment of Truth (ZMOT) was written by Jim Lecinski, who was Google’s Managing Director of U.S. Sales & Service at the time.
Winning the Zero Moment of Truth (ZMOT) explains that before a customer ever contacts a business or walks into a store, they now perform an online “pre-shopping” investigation — reading reviews, searching Google, comparing options, and consuming content. This invisible decision-making stage happens long before the traditional marketing funnel kicks in, and it strongly influences which business a person ultimately chooses.

David Sparks spent years as a lawyer, but he’s always had one foot in the tech world. That’s how I first came across him. He’s a massive Apple fan — which suits me perfectly — but what I really enjoy is that he goes well beyond just talking about Apple gear.
His ideas on productivity, creativity and how he approaches work are genuinely fascinating. If you’re after thoughtful insights on Apple products and plenty more, his newsletter is well worth subscribing to.
