About Ian Mackenzie

I’m Ian Mackenzie, a digital marketer, photographer, and tech writer based in Nambucca Heads on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales.

This site brings together the work and interests I keep coming back to: websites, design, photography, technology, online business, and practical ways to help local businesses show up more clearly online.

Technology has shaped a lot of my working life.

In 2001, I started my first business, Cyberguide, as a self taught web and print designer. Within a couple of years, the business had shifted into ecommerce, and almost all of our work was handled online and by phone.

That changed what was possible.

Because I no longer had to meet every customer face to face, I could work from anywhere with a decent internet connection. In 2005, I moved from Sydney to Nambucca Heads, and I’ve worked from home ever since.

The internet made that possible long before remote work became normal.

I’ve been involved with technology based businesses for most of my adult life.

In my early working years, that meant business communication systems, personal computers, and the early internet. Later, it became web design, ecommerce, online marketing, photography, writing, and helping small businesses build a clearer online presence.

These days, my main work is through Customer Path, where I help local businesses improve their websites, content, local visibility, and online systems.

I still enjoy the creative side as well. Photography, design, writing, and technology all feed into the same bigger interest for me: using practical tools to make useful things.
